 Read Anything — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 September 2026

1. Summary

Read Anything keeps your documents on your phone. There is no account and no Read Anything server, and we (Red Fleet) never see what you read. The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob.

2. What the app stores

The text of the documents you add (pasted text, files, web articles, scans and photos turned into text), their titles and detected languages, your reading positions, listening time per day, your pronunciation list and your settings. They are saved in the app's private storage on this device and excluded from Android cloud backup. Scanned or picked photos are only used to recognise text and are not kept by the app.

3. What leaves your phone

Web links: when you ask Read Anything to fetch a link, the app downloads that page directly from its website, like a browser would; that website sees an ordinary request from your phone. Voices: speech is produced by the text-to-speech engine on your phone (for example Speech Services by Google). Some engines or voices marked as needing internet may send text to their provider to create the audio, under that provider's policy. Sharing and exporting: when you share text or save audio, you choose where it goes.

4. Text and language recognition

Reading text from scans and photos, and detecting a document's language, use Google's ML Kit on your device. The page scanner is provided by Google Play services. Images and text are processed on the phone and are not uploaded by Read Anything.

5. Advertising

Read Anything shows ads from Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information such as your advertising ID, IP address and app interactions, under Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). The text of your documents is never shared with AdMob or used for ads. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first, and you can change it any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.

6. Permissions

Internet (to fetch web links and load ads), notifications and a media-playback foreground service (to keep reading with the screen off and show playback controls), and advertising ID access for ads. Files and photos are opened only through Android's pickers, one at a time, when you choose them. No location, contacts, microphone or camera permission is requested; the page scanner runs inside Google Play services.

7. Children

Read Anything is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

8. Your choices

Delete any document from its menu, erase everything in Settings → Erase library, or uninstall the app to remove all of its data.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be in the app and on our website with a new date.
